As a continuation of core focus areas from our NHS Long Term Plan conference, and in light of the national response and provision of support to address the NHS Cardiovascular disease Programme following the Coronavirus outbreak NHS England & Improvement, alongside PHE and the DHSC will be ensuring that the already stretched clinicians have digital options to assist in providing support and solutions to the many patients suffering with CVD.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the primary cause for morbidity and mortality, and is associated with markedly rising health care costs in the UK. Approximately one in three deaths can be attributed to CVD, and over 90% of CVD morbidity and mortality to preventable risk factors.
Internet and smart phone use has grown exponentially in the past decade, opening up the possibility that these increasingly prevalent technological tools could improve health. Digital health interventions (DHI), including such modalities as telemedicine, web-based strategies, email, mobile phones, mobile applications, text messaging, and monitoring sensors, are the most recent iteration of an effort to shift health care burden outside of the walls of medical institutions, and improve individualised care through positive behavior change theory.
Already we are seeing telehealth, mobile messaging, multi-disciplinary team coordination and data-driven solutions being used on a whole new level, as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
This webinar will enable a leading partner to present alongside the NHS England and other experts from across the health sector, to outline the support available for clinicians at and GP practices at this critical period.
