COVID-19 will significantly affect mental health for everyone, but more so for those already living with mental illness. Whether it is the anxiety of potentially contracting, or contracting the disease, as well as the increase in loneliness and isolation, all can trigger and worsen symptoms.

Acknowledging, recognising and acting on mental distress in these uncertain times is key to lessening the impact.

Many people suffer from depression and anxiety. These problems can make people feel sad, scared and even suicidal, and can affect their work, their relationships and their quality of life. Depression and anxiety can occur because of personal, financial, social or health problems. The number of sufferers will surly increase following the effects of COVID-19.

Developing more integrated approaches to mental health should be a key priority given the close links between mental health and physical health outcomes, and the impact these have on the quality and costs of care.

This webinar will outline key principles for successful integration of mental health in new models of care. Local system leaders can use these principles to help ensure that integration of mental health is a core part of the development of new care models, and to capitalise on the opportunities this presents.
