Over a quarter of UK students experience a change in their mental wellbeing when beginning their higher education (HE) journey. Students with good mental wellbeing are more likely to stay in education, academically succeed and enjoy the experience.

The NHS Long Term Plan sets out the requirement for a new approach to young adult mental health services for people aged 18 – 25 to support the transition into adulthood. Universities have a key role to play in this ambition and this webinar will focus on how we build the capability and capacity of Universities to improve student welfare services and improve access to mental health support for the student population, including access to psychological therapies.

With strides towards collaboration and digital developments, including intuitive platforms and chatbot technology, it’s clear there are major advancements to enable better student wellbeing. Making students aware of the services that are available to them not only enables them to access appropriate support but also de-stigmatises poor mental health.

This free webinar will provide an update on the progress of the progress of the NHS Long Term Plan and will also focus on how, higher education, the NHS and other agencies can work together more effectively to ensure we achieve these objectives. You will hear from a range of experts on the impacts of the pandemic on young adult mental health, recovery techniques, and from education leaders about the actions they have been taking.
